All Programs can be 2 weeks or longer. All programs culminate in performances for friends, family and the community. Fee varies by days, time, length and amount of participants.
Dance For Life – A Health & Wellness Program

Developed in response to the growing childhood obesity trend, Dance For Life is a new program that provides vital basic nutrition and fitness awareness through fun, practical application. Students learn how to make healthy food choices and the importance of physical wellness throughout life. Choose from choreography incorporating popular American sporting events like baseball, basketball, cheer and football; or Fitness from East to West, a program demonstrating the mind-body balance of martial arts, yoga, tai chi, and more through music and dance.

Dance Around The World

“The history of dance from the beginning of time until now”… This educational program takes the children through the world with movement. It shows how all countries have their dances. How the dances are part of their daily lives. They travel to countries such as Greece, Africa, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Italy, Spain, China and more. Through learning dances from all over the world, the children come to understand how we are not all that different, what our similarities are and where our cultural roots began.

Dance Through American History

This educational program teaches a basic understanding of North American cultural history to children through the medium of dance. Through discovering, studying & performing the popular dances of various eras of North American history, such as the Colonial Period Waltz, 1920′s “pre depression era” Charleston, 1940′s Swing, 1950′s Lindy-Hop, 1980′s Funk, 1900′s, Hip-Hop, and more, the dances demonstrate, through their own unique peculiarities, various historic & cultural attributes of those specific periods in the development of the North American nation.

Bugs & Crawly Things – Pre-School to 4th Grades

This educational program deals with acceptance of physical differences. Every bug(person) has an important role in the world regardless of his or her bug-nality. Whether tall or small, big or little, whatever we look like, we all have a purpose and can contribute in a positive way to make this a better world. Students learn about the different bugs this amazing world is home to, and what parts they play in assisting with the balance and harmony of our cultural environment.

Bravo For Broadway – Grades 4-12

This educational program is a musical theatre celebration of American music and composers. Students learn dances from popular Broadway musicals such as “The Wiz”, “West Side Story”, “The Lion King” and more. This program can be collaboration with the Music class. Music students can sing the songs and the dance students perform the dances. An exciting challenge for students to work in this fun, entertaining and up-lifting production.

Dances From Latin America

This educational program teaches the history of Latin America by learning the traditional folk dances from countries such as Cuba, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and more. Students learn how certain cultures were indigenous based, where their outside influences came from and how these cultures mixed and created the music and dance of today.

Opendance can create a program especially for you. A school theme, Cinco de Mayo, Cultural Diversity week, Arbor Day, Earth Day, International Peace Day let us work with you to taper a program just for you.
